LIKE THE CAT
Feline Wisdom for Healing & Transformation
LIKE THE CAT offers practical, spiritual, and science-based solutions to the common problems so many of us face—injury, illness, trauma, mental health issues, feeling lost, starting over, spiritual path-finding, and more.
Illuminating a transformative path from desperation to joy and ease, each chapter focuses on a Feline trait, provides strategies for healing and mindful living, and closes with a simple, inspiring affirmation and illustration.
The cat is a master of self-care and awareness.
When you remember to live like that cat, your life improves.
It’s that simple!
Playful and insightful, LIKE THE CAT contains everything you need to live your best life. The wise and vetted strategies described in this book will support the well-being of anyone, whether you suffer from an acute or chronic illness, or none at all.
—Priscilla Szneke BSN, MSc., meditation and mindfulness teacher. Adjunct faculty at The Mindfulness Center at Brown University.
A beautiful, witty book that turns life’s lemons into sweet lemonade. It is a life-changing offering to all who live with health challenges, feel lost and alone, and don’t know how to start to find a life they can love again. —Judith Z., reader with chronic illness.
LIKE THE CAT, though short in length, is long on wisdom. It explores a simple truth: self-care and self-compassion are key to thriving, rather than simply surviving, with chronic illness. As mentioned in the book, simple does not mean easy. Like many simple but powerful ideas, the devil is in the details of the how. This book will help you navigate through the swamp—a metaphor for life’s challenges—and teach you to embrace your inner cat.
—Dr. Ric Arseneau, Clinical Professor at University of British Columbia, and a specialist in internal medicine with expertise in ME/CFS, FM, Long COVID, Eating Disorders, Group Psychotherapy, and Medical Education.

CENTRAL SENSITIZATION & SENSITIVITY SYNDROMES
A Handbook for Coping
Millions of people experience symptoms of central sensitization (CS) and central sensitivity syndromes (CSS) such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and multiple chemical sensitivities. Yet many lack diagnoses, education and resources. Without proper support, some patients may become withdrawn, suffering needlessly and possibly developing mental illness.
Covering the syndromes within the context of central sensitization (CS), this book provides candid personal experience, strategies for symptom management, and suggested methods for coping and long-term healing, with easy-to-understand science. Published under pen name Amy Titani.

THE LAST LETTER
a Locus-recommended book
The islanders wanted predators shipped in, they wanted bug bombs and pesticides. I reminded them that their overuse of pesticides over the past decade was one of the things that had gotten them into this mess in the first place, killing off beneficial insects and losing their web worm predators in the process.
"Then spray the worms,” someone shouted.
"Spray them with what?" I said. "After completing my preliminary tests, I can tell you that the web worms have developed a resistance to insecticides, viruses, and funghi. Even the parasites they host have no significant effect upon them. You have bred some very resilient web worms here. So we must control them another way. But this will take more than a season, so again I ask for your patience—"
"We've waited long enough already. Those worms have devoured half the forest."
"What will they eat when they run out of trees?"
On Island SG7, one voracious parasite endangers a protected forest and a small community. But the biologist hired to bring the place into balance is already compromised—by a too-narrow view of her duties, and—increasingly—by a love she cannot ignore.
This is the love letter of Peta Sutton, who struggles to perceive the full complexities of her place in a foreign ecosystem and an extramarital relationship. As the island roils and the parasites seem to drag people's worst fears into being, Peta struggles to forge a peace at the heart of fears that threaten to consume everything.
This story of a biologist's attempt to stop the advance of a strange and voracious parasite in a protected forest perfectly balances the personal and the scientific, working as both a character study and a fascinatingly odd encounter with a foreign ecosystem. As always, Aqueduct Press has done a lovely job of bringing another new author to readers. —Jeff VanderMeer, Omnivoracious, December, 2011

MUSIC
Florilegium
Thirty-five years ago, I was a teenager recording my original songs on a four-track cassette recorder in my closet. Music has taken me many places since then. I've written folk and rock songs, prog and protest songs, black&blue, punny, funky, eco-fem, cellomantic, classical-pop, a cappella, and even whale songs. What a wonderful, transformative ride! I'm incredibly grateful for all that my songs and you, dear listeners, have given me. To celebrate the road traveled, this anthology contains seventeen of my favourite songs, including two previously unreleased demos. I hope you enjoy, and keep on rocking, folking, and dancing! -- Fiona Lehn
[Lehn’s “Waiting for Dogot” is] “an atmospheric, airwaves-worthy acoustic rocker that is also rife with clever literary wordplay. Lehn has a deceptively soft and girlish voice that bursts with white-knuckled authority as the band drives from the song’s quiet verses into its guitar-crashing chorus. Anyone who digs the musings of Jewel, Joan Osborne or Alanis Morissette needs to search this potential smash out.”
